Here are some of the highlights from this issue…

Clarification of new rule regarding Stallion Re-certification

If a stallion owner does not pay the annual recertification fee in a given year, his status as a Registered Arkansas Stallion ceases. If a stallion owner does not pay the annual re-certification fee in a given year, stallion awards will not be paid on foals pro- duced from the breedings that year or in subsequent years. If a stallion owner does not pay the annual recertification fee, foals of mares bred to that stallion will will be considered bred to a non-registered Arkansas stallion. This will not effect the eligibility of the foal being registered as a Registered Arkansas- bred thoroughbred as long as the mare is bred back the same calendar year the foal is foaled to an Arkansas registered stallion only, or if the mare is not bred at all during the calendar year the foal is foaled, she must be bred to an Arkansas registered stallion only the following year.

LOUISIANA DOWNS ACCOMMODATIONS

The 2013 Razorback and Lady Razorback (2 year-old registered Arkansas-bred futurity races) will run at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs on Saturday, September 21, 2014. If you are interested in reserve or club house seating and/or dining accommodations on that day, you may con- tact Vicky Walker at 1-800-551-2361. It is suggested that you give Vicky as much notice as possible to be assured of good seating. The owners of horses entered in either of these races are given special consideration and accommodations by Harrah’s Louisiana Downs. Make reservations early so you aren’t left out!

We Are Moving to a New Office!

Oaklawn’s expansion calls for us to relocate our office. With their help, we will be moving into a new modular office building that will be located on your right as you go through the stable gate into the backside barn area. We were pretty content where we were, but now we’re anxious to get our new office. We hope to be in and settled by the end of October. Stop by and see us when you are doing your year- end registrations or when you are visiting Oaklawn during the live meet … which, as we all know, is just right around the corner!

After our move and prior to horses arriving in mid to late November, Oaklawn will proceed with demolition of the building we are vacating and perform other prelimi- nary work to prepare for the main expansion project that will begin after the 2014 live meet. When completed, and additional EGS machines are installed, we should see an increase in the handle, which means an increase in the deposits Oaklawn makes into our Purse & Awards Fund, which means an increase in the incentive awards payments made to you annually. What we are going through now is all part of the process of growing pains!!!
